In Our House, a coffee break isn’t just about sipping a drink—it’s about slowing down and enjoying the simple beauty of everyday life. After walking through the old neighborhood, we love to sit back and relax at a joglo house, a traditional Javanese wooden pavilion that feels warm and welcoming. The breeze slips through the open space, the sound of birds and distant calls from the market fill the air, and time seems to move a little slower here.
While resting, we serve some of our favorite local treats—the same ones we grew up with. This is simple, everyday flavors for us, but for visitors, they often feel like discovering a new piece of culture and sitting in a joglo with these traditional snacks, storytelling and the calamity of together, is how we like to end a day in Kotagede. It’s quiet, personal, and full of local charm—a moment that lets you feel the real heartbeat of our neighborhood.
